iF DESIGN Jury – Diversity, Prestige and Quality

The international jurors await designs from all over the world

The iF DESIGN AWARD jury with judges from great brands and design offices, brings diversity and creative expertise to a new level. With the growing number of entries to the iF DESIGN AWARD competition every year, the number of jurors grew as well: More than 100 design professionals will take part in the iF DESIGN AWARD 2023 Jury Session!

There is much that has changed in the iF Jury over the past years and we at iF are beyond proud of them – but what makes the iF Jury so special?

More female designers, highly international and neutral: An exceptional jury panel

The iF DESIGN Jury grows in diversity every year!

What makes our jurors so special? First of all, being part of the jury, is a professional appreciation! Our jurors come from over 20 countries. They have to have high intercultural understanding : They should know why a coffee machine in Turkey has to fulfill different criteria as in North America . What else do we look for in our jurors: At best the international design community should know the juror and trust him or her to make an objective, neutral judgement. They have to have an "eye" for the smallest detail and the have to be fair in their judging .

What we are especially proud of at iF and what we – passionately – worked on over the years: The percentage of female jurors grew up to 50 percent ! We could not guarantee a great jury, without the female perspective.

What do the jurors think about the iF Final Jury 2022?

After two "digital" years, the first major live event of iF Design took place in Berlin with 75 design experts from 23 nations: The iF Final Jury 2022 !

The unique charm of the old industrial Wilhelm Hallen provided a special setting for the iF jurors. After three intensive jury days full of competent discussions, arguments, examinations and tests, the winners were determined.

Benefits for creative brands and people: The iF DESIGN AWARD Jury Process

With more than 10.000 entries, the iF DESIGN AWARD is one of the biggest international design competitions – this requires modern standards.

In 2021, iF DESIGN changed its jury process, including an Online Preselection, during which only the best 50 percent of all the entries will be admitted to the Final – physical – Jury in Berlin!

Plus, we established the jury scorecard and feedback poster. For this, iF worked together with Darragh Murphy, Senior Partner at Brazilian management consultancy DUCO.

"The jury feedback poster and scorecard is a tool for the design community to improve itself. A lot of information can be gathered from just these few columns of data. Was there consistency across the judges? Is the entry strong in its category but weak in its discipline? That is way more than an „awarded“ or „not awarded“ result."
